‘A girl of around 14 years came to AIIMS Delhi from Bareilly for treatment. She had breast cancer. However, this was not the beginning of cancer but the cancer had spread a lot, because at the age of around 9 years she felt a lump near her breast but as there was no pain or discomfort, she did not tell this to anyone, but with increasing age, when the size of the breast started increasing rapidly, the lump in the breast also started hurting and pus like substance started coming out of it, then the family came to know and then brought her to the doctor. Currently the girl is undergoing treatment…’
Be it AIIMS or any other cancer hospital, this is not the first case when a girl has been diagnosed with breast cancer at such a young age. Many such cases have been reported before. Dr. GK Rath, former chief of AIIMS cancer hospital, says that a patient of breast cancer at the age of 12 has come to him for treatment. Although such cases occur in one in thousands, but there is a need to be aware about this from a young age.

Breast Cancer Se Jung: Not just breast, underarm lumps are also a sign of breast cancer, women should check themselves like this
Women should examine themselves and their daughters
Dr. Rath says that there is no way to prevent this cancer which is most common among women, but what we can do is to detect it early. Delay in this can be dangerous. If this disease is detected in time, then treatment is possible in 95 percent of the cases. For this, women need to examine themselves. At the same time, mothers of small girls should also examine them, so that this disease can be detected before it grows.
What are the factors of breast cancer
Dr. Rath says that the causes of breast cancer are still not clear. In only 10 percent of cases, this disease is transmitted genetically, while in 90 percent of cases, the causes of the disease are unknown. Therefore, women should keep getting themselves checked. There are some factors for this, like if any lump, bleeding or discharge is seen in the breast, or there is a lump in the armpit, whether it is painful or not, then consult a doctor immediately. If the size of the lump or the size of the breast is increasing, then also go to the doctor immediately. Do this every month.
Why are women confused?
Dr. Rath says that it is often seen that women do not understand the lump in the breast, if there is no pain in it then they ignore it considering it to be a normal breast size or a part of the breast. This is also possible because not every lump is cancer, but if there is a history of breast cancer in your family or you are not married or do not have children or your age is above 30 years, then you must consult a doctor after self-examination. In this situation, there is no need to get a mammogram done, even after just getting an ultrasound done, you can get information about whether the lump or lump is cancerous or not.
Therefore, women and girls should not ignore any unusual thing seen in the breast. They should consider it necessary and consult a doctor. By doing this, it is possible to treat this cancer to a great extent.
