After Mercedes-Benz, German luxury automaker BMW has also announced a price hike for its cars in India, which will be effective from January 2025.
BMW India has announced a price increase of its cars in the country. The German luxury car maker has said that the price of BMW cars in India will increase by up to three percent. The price increase will be effective from January 1, 2025. However, the carmaker has not given the reason behind the price increase.
BMW’s rival and another German luxury carmaker in India, Mercedes-Benz, which commands a major share in the Indian luxury car market, has also announced a price hike of up to three percent for its cars. BMW’s price hike move comes as a similar move by Mercedes-Benz. The latter said the price hike step was announced due to increase in material costs, inflationary pressures and logistics expenses due to higher operating costs. BMW may not have announced the reason behind its decision to increase car prices in India, but the automaker could attribute the move to similar reasons.

BMW currently sells a wide range of luxury cars in India. BMW cars in India include models like 2 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series LWB, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3, X5, X7 and M340i. All these BMW cars are manufactured locally in India to keep their pricing competitive by availing tax benefits. On the other hand, BMW also sells models in India like the i4, i5, i7, iX1, Z4 and entire M Performance badged cars, which are imported into the Indian market as completely built units (CBUs). With the increase in prices, all these cars, CBU models and locally manufactured cars will become costlier from the first day of next year.
BMW India introduced the all-new M5 in the country earlier this week. It is unclear whether there will also be a price increase for the M5, which will be effective from January 2025.
