Mumbai BMC Headquarters: India’s biggest Municipal Corporation i.e. BMC building is worth seeing. It is in front of CSMT railway station in Mumbai. Both these buildings are very beautiful and UNESCO has declared them the world heritage site. Both of them were designed by British architect Frederick William Stevens. Today, like the Caves of Taj Hotel, Gateway of India and Mumbai, people come from far and wide to see this building.

You can also roam inside this building. Here you will get to see a lot such as main stairs, heritage dome, courtyard, inner courtyard, corporation hall, mayor’s chamber, commissioner’s office and standing committee hall. The tour ends in a museum where pictures and videos of this building are shown. The top of the BMC building is a very large statue under which ‘Urbs Prima in Indis’ is written on the stone, which means ‘the first city of India’.
This building older than 130 years
This BMC building, older than 130 years, is a mixture of Venice Gothic and Indo-Sersicular style. Its work started in 1884 and was completed in 1893. Initially, BMC’s office was in a small building on Girgaon Road. In 1870, it was shifted to Espless and finally its foundation was laid in front of CSMT station in 1884.
