A month after the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s task force submitted its report to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the party’s poor performance in the state.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s seats in the state will decrease from 62 in 2019 to 33.
After the report was submitted, the chief minister transferred 12 district magistrates (DMs). AyraNews24x7It said most of the district magistrates are from districts where the BJP lost in the 2024 elections.
According to details, the transferred DMs belonged to Sitapur, Banda, Basti, Shrawasti, Kaushambi, Sambhal, Saharanpur, Moradabad, and Hathras. While Kasganj, Chitrakoot, and Auraiya’s DMs were reassigned.
Besides, the BJP task force report also mentioned that ‘strange’ ticket distribution, opposition’s ‘threat to the Constitution’ statement and shift of BSP’s vote base to the Samajwadi Party (SP) are the main reasons for BJP’s poor performance in Uttar Pradesh.
“We were looted by our own people, where was the guts in the streets, our boat was also submerged where there was less water…, AyraNews24x7 A party functionary aware of the task force’s findings was quoted as saying, “The BJP’s fall was pre-determined and inevitable.”
He further added, “An important reason behind the decline of the BJP was internal dissent, mainly due to problems over ticket distribution and discontent among the Thakur community.”
Among other reasons, the party’s task force found that the Opposition’s ‘threat to the Constitution’ narrative caused some damage to the BJP’s prospects.
The ‘threat to the Constitution’ saga began after a video of BJP candidate Lallu Singh went viral in which he said the new government would need a two-thirds majority in Parliament to ‘make a new constitution’.
“A government formed with 272 seats cannot amend the Constitution. For this, or even if a new Constitution is to be made, a more than two-thirds majority will be needed.” AyraNews24x7 he was quoted as saying.
In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 240 seats and formed the government in alliance with Telugu Desam Party, Janata Dal United, Shiv Sena, Lok Janshakti Party, Janasena Party and others.
