Bike Knowledge: While designing vehicles, companies take care of even the smallest things. These small things play a very important role in the vehicle and if any of these things gets damaged, then many problems have to be faced. Have you ever noticed why there is a small hole at the mouth of your bike’s tank and what is its function? In this article, we are going to tell you why the company makes this hole on the fuel tank.
You must have noticed that when you wash your bike or if the bike is parked outside in the rain, water gets into the fuel cap. The company provides a way to take out this water so that it does not mix with the petrol inside the tank. If there is more water, it can mix with the petrol inside the fuel tank. Running the bike with water-mixed fuel can damage the engine.
The bike has an outlet system
A water outlet system is provided in the fuel tank to drain out water. For this, a small hole is made at the mouth of the tank. During rains, water accumulates around the fuel lid which flows out of the tank through this hole. If this hole gets clogged, water can enter the tank and mix with the petrol.
Get these things done during servicing
Whenever the bike is serviced, do not forget to get the hole of the fuel tank lid cleaned. If after washing the bike, water remains collected around the mouth of the tank, then understand that the hole is clogged and needs to be cleaned.
