Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has also issued instructions to all two-wheeler manufacturers in this regard. He has clearly said that any customer who is buying your bike should be provided a helmet at a discount.
Nitin Gadkari said that every year more than 50 thousand bike riders die in the country only because they are not wearing helmets. In the year 2022, 50,029 people have lost their lives due to not wearing helmets. Therefore, all two-wheeler companies should make helmets available at affordable prices to customers buying bikes.
Why did Gadkari give instructions
The Union Minister said, ‘I think this and appeal to the two-wheeler manufacturers to provide helmets at a discount to customers buying bikes. This can save many lives.’ Let us tell you that Gadkari has become very vocal about road accidents for the last several days.
Earlier there was a taunt on the engineers
Last year, Gadkari had also taken a dig at engineers. In January, he had said that road accidents are increasing in the country because engineers are not designing roads properly. Recently, he had said that road accidents are increasing by 12% and deaths due to this are increasing by 10% every year in the country. This is causing a loss of 3.14% of the country’s GDP.
Strictness on parking for school buses too
The Road and Transport Minister also stressed on making parking arrangements for school buses. He said that by making changes in the Motor Vehicles Act 2019, not only have the penalties been made expensive, but there is also emphasis on implementing it. Our effort is to make parking arrangements for the buses in all the schools running at the taluka level in the country.
