Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has expanded metro train services on January 17 in view of the India-Afghanistan T20 cricket tournament to be held in Bengaluru. The last T-20 cricket match of the current series between India and Afghanistan will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
BMRCL decided to extend train service timings from four terminal metro stations on both Purple and Green lines till 11:45 pm tonight for the much-awaited T20 cricket match. The move was taken to expand metro services to avoid congestion of private vehicles near the match venue.

To facilitate the travel of passengers during the extended match hours, special return journey paper tickets will be made available for purchase at all metro stations from 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17. These tickets will allow a single journey from Cubbon Park and MG Road metro station to any other metro station from 8:00 pm to 11:45 pm on the same day.

Additionally, passengers can also opt for QR code tickets which offer 5% discount on regular fares when purchased on match day. QR code tickets can also be obtained through WhatsApp, Namma Metro app or Paytm. Additionally, smart cards and NCMC cards will be valid for use as usual. This measure of obtaining tickets for extended metro hours through different sources was done to avoid crowding at ticket counters.

However, only QR tickets, smart cards and paper tickets will be accepted at Cubbon Park and MG Road metro stations during extended hours.
The match between India and Afghanistan will be telecast on Sports 18 network and live-streamed on JioCinema from 7 PM (IST). According to Google’s victory probability, there is 84 percent chance that India will win. According to Crictracker, India will clean sweep the series 3-0, no matter who bats first. Sportskeeda also suggested that India would win the match.
