Ben Affleck’s conditions for his next date
A source told the media outlet that this is a stipulation for Affleck’s next lady. Affleck was reportedly in a “tough” place following his split from Lopez and so has understood the importance of never jeopardizing his sobriety.
“Ben hasn’t given up on relationships and finally feels ready to move on and start dating again,” the insider told the outlet. He won’t take any serious steps until the final decision on the divorce is taken, but that doesn’t mean he can’t date. She revealed, “He only wants to date someone who is sober or in recovery. The past two years have been tough for Ben and as he begins to recover, one thing is very clear: his recovery comes before anything else. He will not jeopardize his sobriety.”
Affleck reportedly turned to ex-wife Jennifer Garner after the split because she was one of the few people who could offer some advice.

Affleck’s struggle with alcoholism
It was previously reported that Affleck was upset by the news that people were fearing the actor’s relapse after a long period of sobriety. The insider said, “Ben tries to avoid reading the news but it frustrates him that people thought he got sick again when he didn’t. Like every alcoholic, Ben wakes up with just one goal in mind. To stay calm that day.”
Affleck looked into treatment for his alcohol addiction in 2001. He went to rehab again in 2017 and 2018 after Garner took intervention at his home with the help of a sober coach.
