Barzakh trailer: Zindagi Gulzar Hai stars Fawad Khan and Sanam are all set to reunite for Saeed Asim Abbasi’s supernatural romance. The trailer, released on Monday, gives a glimpse of the larger story, which stars Fawad and Sanam in pivotal roles. What’s in the trailer?
The series follows the touching journey of a reclusive 76-year-old man who invites his estranged children and grandchildren to his remote valley resort to celebrate an extraordinary and unconventional event – his wedding to the ghost of his first true love. “This emotionally intense narrative leaves viewers contemplating the mysteries of life, what happens after death, and the deep sense of love that binds us together,” reads its official synopsis.
The trailer shows Fawad climbing the hills to a mysterious place called the ‘Land of Nowhere’. Fawad then meets Sanam and asks her, “So you are still running the circus here?”, as if he knows her from before. She replies, “Who else will run it?” The rest of the trailer is filled with hints of supernatural events as the wedding approaches.
When a kid asks Fawad why no one is stopping his grandfather from marrying a ghost, Fawad says it is because of ‘fear’. While Fawad feels his father is making a wrong decision by assuming he will marry a ghost, Sanam calls it the power of love and convinces Fawad to be happy for his father.

Barzakh, which means ‘barrier’ or ‘purification’, takes place against the backdrop of Pakistan’s picturesque Hunza Valley. According to the makers, the six-episode show explores themes of mental health, postpartum depression, generational trauma and gender inclusivity.
Barzakh also stars Salman Shahid, M Fawad Khan, Iman Suleman, Khushal Khan, Faiza Gilani, Anika Zulfiqar and Franco Giusti. It will stream every Monday and Friday at 8 pm on Zindagi’s official YouTube channel and ZEE5.
