New Delhi: Javed Akhtar is the son of a famous poet and lyricist John Nisar Akhtar, with whom he never had good relations. He always kept speaking about his bad relationship with his father. The lyricist lost his mother at a very young age. He had a strained relationship with his stepmother, due to which he started living separately from his father. His childhood was spent in trauma, he did not get love from his father, yet the lyricist does not want to change anything in his life.
Javed Akhtar said in a conversation with ‘Mojo Story’, ‘Life is such a package, which you cannot choose. This is a tight script. If I imagine that my mother had not passed away when I was just 8 years old, because that was a shock and I would have deleted scenes and edited them, my life would have been different and a lot of scenes would have changed and many highlights would not have happened. If it had happened, my life would have been different.

79 year old Javed Akhtar further said, ‘If I am thankful for this life today, then I have to accept my previous life with full respect. My past life has led me here. I can’t change it.’ Javed Akhtar had talked about his father’s shortcomings in an old interview given to BBC. He had said, ‘Many times children have complaints against their father, but a man cannot become everything. He was a poet and generally a man of his status becomes irresponsible in other aspects of life. He was like this. He was a good poet, but he failed in other roles. Javed Akhtar was brought up by his grandparents.
