Apart from the commercial success she got this year in the form of Article 370, she is enjoying the last phase of her pregnancy. Yami Gautam Dhar says preparations are underway to welcome a new member in her and filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s family, “My family is here in Mumbai, my sister (Surili) is going to join me soon. We are traditional, we don’t really have any concept of creating a nursery. Of course there are adjustments, you have to prepare. Baby proofing will happen later when the baby starts running around. My sister, who is a mother, says this is the best phase. I’m sure there will be challenges, but we’ll know when we get into it. We are very excited.”
Is the calm Aditya still so patient or has he started feeling irritable? “He is very happy,” Yami says laughing. We keep discussing things, keep exchanging notes. He keeps sending me things that he thinks will help me. Then we also have our parents, we ask them how they did it. Anyone who knows Aditya knows that he is very calm. He keeps asking me ‘What do you want to eat today, what do you feel like doing; He has brought Amar Chitra Katha and Ramayana for me. My mother used to read it when my sister and I were coming to visit.” Apart from this, she is also listening to late music legend MS Subbulakshmi.
After OMG 2 (2023), his film has completed 50 days in theatres, which is another hit, this one is also in a state of happiness. “A female colleague – and I don’t believe in taking names – messaged me and it was very refreshing to read,” Yami says with a smile. He said, this kind of film is working in today’s time… We know what kind of economic changes we are facing in the industry. We’re just happy and grateful that it happened. I am extremely satisfied. When your choices match with the audience, it’s the best reward for an actor and a producer, for anyone who has given his blood and heart.
