Ariana Grande is facing criticism for speaking about her “fascination” with serial killers and admitting that she thought her dream dinner guest would be Jeffrey Dahmer. Grande made the comments while speaking on the Podcrush podcast with hosts Penn Badgley, Sophie Ansari, and Nava Kavelin.
“When I was younger, I was very obsessed with serial killers,” Grande said. “It was just between me and Kat… [on Sam & Cat] and the pop stuff, so it was like a youth group, and they were with the parents, and someone said, ‘If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?’”
“I said, ‘Oh, you’re so cute,’” she said, adding that she asked the group of parents if she could answer truthfully. “They said, ‘Sure, what’s the answer?’ And I said, ‘I mean, Jeffery Dahmer is so cute.’”
Grande even said she still wants to meet Dahmer. The serial killer was executed in prison in 1994. Dahmer was accused of killing 17 boys and men from 1978 to 1991. His murders included necrophilia and cannibalism.
“I think I would have loved to meet him,” Grande said. “You know, maybe with a third party or somebody else. But I have some questions.”

Grande is facing backlash for her comments. In the comments section of the above video, one user said, “I don’t think she knows what she’s doing”. “This is a surprisingly common stance. All these people were getting fanmail in jail,” one user said, while another wrote, “I swear they want to kidnap…”
One user said, “Surprisingly she sounds like other people who are obsessed with serial killers”, while another wrote, “I don’t think she wants to be famous anymore”.
The clip also surfaced on Reddit, where users are criticizing Grande. “This is disgusting… I have a huge interest in crime cases, but the last thing I would want to do is have dinner with a serial killer. Jeffery Dahmer was a pedophile who murdered innocent people, primarily black people, because he knew the police wouldn’t take their disappearance seriously. Joking about wanting to have dinner with him is sick and very disrespectful to the victims’ families, who are still alive and affected by the tragedy. Let’s stop glorifying these maniacs and pretending they are extremely attractive to people – they’re not, and if you meet them in real life, you’ll quickly find out why,” one user commented on Reddit. “This is a very disgusting thing to say,” one user wrote. One added, “This is not the funny/cute/edgy anecdote you’re thinking, Ariana.”
