Acne scars on the body are difficult to treat, but they can be controlled. A derm recommends effective products to wash, hydrate, and exfoliate the skin.

Acne scars on the body can be bothersome, making you think about wearing your favorite backless dress. It’s time to reclaim your skin and OOTD (outfit of the day) with confidence, and it all starts with diligent skin care and following the mantra: prevention is better than cure. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. David Kim addressed the issue of acne scars on the body in an Instagram video. He suggested that one should deal with the problem of acne scars on the body by preventing further occurrences of acne. A prevention-focused approach is effective in treating it at its root.

Dr. Kim shares a holistic routine that covers the entire journey of treating the body’s hyperpigmentation acne scars — from preventing new breakouts to lightening existing scars. This bodycare routine treats the problem of acne scars right from its initial stage.

body wash

Dr. Kim recommends using a body wash that helps prevent acne from worsening. He recommends using Panoxyl’s 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Body Wash. The dermatologist highlighted that this type of body wash can be used even if you don’t have acne, as the 10% benzoyl peroxide helps prevent future breakouts.

brightening serum

While serums are typically applied only to the face, body serums can effectively hydrate and treat acne scars. “Use a brightening serum containing niacinamide, kojic acid, and arbutin to brighten your skin and soften stubborn acne spots,” says Dr. Kim. These elements lighten and soften acne scars. He recommends using La Roche-Posay’s 10% Niacinamide Serum for this.

Exfoliating Acid

The dermatologist recommended using The Ordinary’s 7% Glycolic Acid Serum or Toner once a week to exfoliate the skin. It improves skin texture. Use it once a week to avoid irritating your skin, as overuse may cause sensitivity.

By following this routine, the acne scars will not only become lighter but the acne will also reduce. It’s a step towards clear, healthy skin.
