New Delhi. For the first time, Apple has captured the top-7 positions in the global list of 10 best-selling smartphones in 2023. A report released on Wednesday revealed that India has become the fifth smartphone market to sell more than 10 million iPhone units in a single year. It said that the combined market share of the top-10 smartphones reached an all-time high of 20 percent in 2023, from 19 percent in 2022.
Apple’s iPhone 14 is the best-selling smartphone, half of which was sold in America and China. The iPhone 15 series captured the top-3 spots in the global bestseller list for Q2 2023, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max becoming the best-selling smartphone.

Samsung A series phones also sold well
Apple’s iPhone 13, the oldest model on the list, remains at fourth position with double-digit YoY growth in Japan and India. Samsung’s budget A series secured three positions in the top-10 list due to its strong value proposition and presence across different geographies and customer segments. Samsung Galaxy A14 5G took the seventh position due to higher sales in the US and India.
Rapidly increasing dominance of top-10 smartphone brands
The report said, “We expect the top-10 best-selling smartphones of 2024 to represent a larger share of total smartphone sales, as OEMs are focusing on smaller portfolios. “Going forward we expect Chinese brands to enter the list and the top 10 of 2024 will likely be 5G-only, with OEMs increasingly launching 5G-only models.”
