Ottawa. In Canada, the discussion has intensified regarding who will take over as the Prime Minister of Canada after Justin Trudeau. Now another new name has been added to it, that of Chandra Arya. He himself announced this on social media. The special thing is that Chandra Aryan is of Indian origin.

Canadian Indian-origin MP Chandra Arya has announced that he will join the race for the post of Prime Minister of the country. Arya has made this announcement at a time when the Liberal Party has set March 9 as the date to elect a new leader in place of outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

This development has happened a few days ago after Trudeau announced his resignation from the post of Prime Minister and said that he will remain in the post until a new leader is elected. Arya, MP from Nepean, Ottawa, was born in Karnataka. He announced his candidature on social media platforms on Thursday morning local time.

“I am running to be the next Prime Minister of Canada to lead a smaller, more efficient government to rebuild our country and ensure prosperity for future generations,” he said in a post on X. “

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has underlined that Arya wants to lead a smaller, more efficient government, in which cabinet members will be selected on the basis of merit and not (diversity, equity and inclusion) quotas. Arya was first elected to the House of Commons in 2015.

Last year, Arya had traveled to India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At that time, ‘Global Affairs Canada’ issued a statement saying that Arya “traveled to India on his own initiative and was not representing the Government of Canada.”
