Aamir Khan’s first ex-wife Reena Dutta lost her father this week. Along with Aamir, his children – Ira and Junaid – attended their grandfather’s funeral.
Aamir Khan and his mother were seen visiting his first ex-wife Reena Dutta’s residence on Wednesday morning after his father’s death. On Thursday, Aamir along with his entire family had come to meet Reena for the funeral of his former father-in-law. Not only Aamir, but he and Reena’s children – actor Junaid Khan and entrepreneur Ira Khan – were also seen at their maternal grandfather’s funeral. Ira was also accompanied by her husband and fitness coach Nupur Shikhare. Aamir’s second ex-wife and film producer Kiran Rao was also seen with the family. She looked distressed and was chatting with Junaid. Aamir was also seen hugging Ira and Nupur, as seen by Kiran.
About Aamir, Reena and Kiran
Aamir married Reena in 1986. They had two children – Junaid and Ira, before separating in 2002. Later, he began dating Kiran, who was his assistant director on his production debut and seminal historical drama Lagaan in 2001. Kiran also became a board member of Aamir Khan Productions, which also produced her directorial debut Dhobi Ghat in 2010. After tying the knot in 2005, Aamir and Kiran became parents to son Azad through surrogacy in 2011.
Aamir and Kiran separated in 2021. However, the two continued to work together as Kiran’s latest directorial venture, Lapata Ladies, was co-produced by Aamir. It was recently announced as India’s official entry for the Academy Awards next year. Aamir will next be seen opposite Genelia D’Souza in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan director RS Prasanna’s Sitare Zameen Par, which will release in theaters this Christmas.
Meanwhile, Aamir’s elder son Junaid made his acting debut with Sidharth P Malhotra’s period courtroom drama Maharaj, which premiered on Netflix India last year. He will next be seen in Advait Chandan’s yet-untitled romantic drama opposite Khushi Kapoor and in another untitled film opposite Sai Pallavi.
Aamir has been very close to both his ex-wives and their relationship has also been cordial towards each other. Kiran was seen closely attending Ira and Nupur’s wedding earlier this year.
