Sonali Bhati/Jalore:- In the era of modernity, on one hand, people are seen using different types of machines for harvesting crops. On the other hand, the tradition of lacquer has been going on in rural areas for decades. Amidst bad weather, farmers have to face problems due to lack of labor to harvest wheat and other crops in the fields. At the same time, in the tradition of Lah that has been going on for years in Rajasthan, farmers are not only supporting each other, but with mutual cooperation they harvest wheat and other crops grown in the fields overnight.
In Poonasa of Bhinmal area, 55 farmers completed the harvesting of wheat crop grown in 2.5 hectare (16 bigha) area in a single night. Lakh was done in the field of farmer Vikram Singh Poonasa, in which people gathered. Laha (harvesting) started at 8 pm and harvesting was done continuously for about 4 hours.
This tradition is in western Rajasthan
There is a tradition of Laha mainly in Western Rajasthan, in which farmers cooperate with each other in harvesting. As per tradition, 100 farmers gather. Before starting the harvest, Bharat Gayan (old song related to tradition) is sung to fill the enthusiasm among the farmers. There is rest after harvesting continuously till midnight.

Royal banquet takes place at midnight
Late at night, the group of farmers who work on lacquer rest. Dal-baati, lapsi-lahve specially prepared for these lahis are served to them for food. After having the meal, Lahiyas again get busy in harvesting the crops with enthusiasm and continue till 5 in the morning. Arrangements for lighting are also made during harvesting in the dark.
