Will I ever be able to see the light of day? Directed by Farhan Akhtar, the all-female road-trip film was announced three years ago, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. Still, there has been no update about the shooting of the film, even as Farhan goes ahead with Don 3. A new post on Reddit page BollyBlindsNGossip shared a fan edit of what could have been if producers had made the film with three actors and fans had a lot of ideas, with many calling it ‘a missed opportunity’. Piecing together scenes from Priyanka’s Dil Dhadakne Do, Anjaana Anjaani; Alia’s Dear Zindagi, to Kapoor & Sons; And the edit of Katrina’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Baar Baar Dekho ended on a wonderful time with the three girls traveling together.
fan reactions
Reacting to the fan edit, a fan said: “Still remember the buzz on social media when the movie was announced… but they killed the hype by delaying it so much!” Another fan said, “What a missed opportunity…maybe they’ll make it in a few years but I doubt it will have the same cast.” Another fan said, “Maybe the success of The Crew can get these ladies back together and we can get another fun movie.”
One fan felt that Farhan Akhtar had a better chance in this film than Don 3. “Farhan missed his chance. It got better positive publicity than Don 3,” read the comment. A fan also said, “Would have. Could have. Should have. But Farhan didn’t! If he was really serious about making Jee Le Zara he would have worked hard on the scheduling conflict and made ‘Taarikh’ Too bad he spent most of that time working on his music (look at Guts), and chasing a ‘rockstar’ career – wasting the opportunity in every way. Farhan, How come you are so smart and yet so stupid (how can someone so smart be so stupid)?”
The film Buddy Road was announced on the 20th anniversary of Farhan’s 2001 directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai. The film is produced by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and co-written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.
Alia will be seen in Jigra and will next be shooting for Love & War, meanwhile Priyanka is set to star in The Bluff, produced by The Russo Brothers and Heads of State. Katrina has not announced her next project yet.
