CBSE provides two levels of mathematics for class 10 students – Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic. This allows students to choose levels based on their interest and future career plans.

Mathematics standard paper is for students who plan to pursue mathematics in higher classes or aim for career in science, commerce or engineering. This is a high difficulty level with complex questions.

On the other hand, Mathematics Basic is for students who do not want to continue mathematics after class 10. The questions are simple and less difficult, making it easier for such students. However, both levels follow the same course.

In 2025, around 24,12,072 students registered for CBSE class 10 board exam in 84 subjects. The examination was conducted in 7,842 centers in India and 26 countries abroad.
