New Delhi: Karan Johar’s film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ was the biggest hit of 1998. People still watch the film many times and its songs are also Sahabhar blockbuster, which no one ever fills the mind. However, very few of you would know that Govinda’s film ‘Dulhe Raja’ left this film behind. Yes, this is absolutely true and not us but the distributor has told himself. In a recent conversation with Komal Nahata, Karan Johar recalled a conversation with a distributor of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ in Bihar, which surprised him.
In the hope of listening to the film that the film would be a blockbuster hit in Bihar, Johar warmly greeted him and said, ‘Namaste Uncle, how are you?’ How is it there? However, the response he received was different from his expectation. The distributor, who oversees the performance of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ in Bihar, told Karan Johar that the film’s performance in the region has been ‘average.
The next statement of the distributor really shocked the filmmaker. He said, ‘Here the groom king is a big hit. ‘Karan Johar was still talking on the phone and was surprised. The bride was a romantic comedy directed by King Harmesh Malhotra. It played the lead roles by Govinda, Raveena Tandon, Kader Khan and Johnny Lever. Monish Bahl and Prem Chopra played the role of the main villain of the film. The film was released in theaters on July 10, 1998. While something happened, it was released on Diwali (October 16, 1998), but still Govinda’s film maintained its dominance in Bihar for more than three months. After this, Johar also agreed to Govinda’s stardom.
