Delhi IGI Airport News: The mischief of the eyes at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport cost a passenger a lot. According to a senior officer of IGI Airport, since Addis Ababa is counted in a sensitive sector, the Custom Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) keeps a special eye on the incoming flights and its passengers. As part of this exercise, AIU officers became suspicious after seeing the eye movement of one of the passengers. After which, this passenger was taken into custody on the basis of suspicion.

He told that as soon as the interrogation started, the passenger shared such a secret with the AIU officers, after knowing which their eyes widened. He told that he had swallowed 66 capsules filled with drugs. After this, he went to the passenger toilet, where he took out 35 capsules and kept them outside. To remove the remaining capsule, AIU admitted the accused passenger to Safdarjung Hospital.
The senior officer said that with the help of doctors at Safdarjung Hospital, the remaining 31 capsules present in the stomach of the accused passenger were taken out. In this way, some 66 capsules were recovered from the stomach of this foreign passenger. These capsules were filled with about 503 grams of cocaine. The value of cocaine recovered from their possession is estimated to be around Rs 7.54 crore in the international market.

During interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that he first reached Addis Ababa from Bangkok through flight number ET-629. Then from there he reached IGI Airport as a transit passenger by flight number ET-688. According to Customs’ Additional Commissioner Mayusha Goyal, the accused passenger is originally a citizen of Filipino origin. He has been arrested under various sections of the Narcotics Act. It is noteworthy that recently a Filipino citizen was arrested on similar charges of smuggling.
