IIM Calcutta MBA Admission: From CAT score to selection process, all you need to know before applying

IIM Calcutta has outlined its MBA admission policy for 2025-27. The selection process involves two stages. More details below.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced its admission policy for the 2025-27 Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. A valid Common Admission Test (CAT) score is mandatory, and candidates must also meet certain other criteria. IIM Calcutta MBA Admission: Eligibility Criteria

  1. A valid Common Admission Test (CAT) score
  2. Bachelor’s degree with at least 50 percent marks or its equivalent CGPA.
  3. For SC, ST and PWD candidates, the minimum marks required in the degree examination is 45 per cent or its equivalent CGPA.
  4. For dual degree or integrated master’s degree candidates, marks obtained in an examination equivalent to graduation level will be considered. If the marks of dual degree at UG and PG levels are not separated by the institute, then the PG marks will be treated as UG marks.
  5. Candidates appearing for the final year degree examination and who have completed the degree requirements and are waiting for the result can also apply. If selected, such candidates may join the program provisionally after submitting a certificate (issued before June 30, 2025) stating that they have completed the degree requirements.
  6. For candidates who have not yet completed the Integrated Post Graduate or Dual Degree programme, their aggregate percentage of marks in all years/semesters up to 3rd August will be considered.
  7. Candidates who have graduated in 2020, 21, 22 or 23 for whom the universities did not conduct the examination or awarded only passing marks, must submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar in support of this claim.
  8. Those who do not receive graduation results at the time of registration must submit originals and photocopies of certificates and mark sheets before December 31, 2025.

IIM Calcutta MBA Admission: Selection Process

The selection process will consist of two stages. In the first phase, IIM Calcutta will prepare a shortlist of candidates on the basis of minimum percentage in CAT 2024, section-wise and overall.

These are the minimum CAT percentage requirements for Stage I

IIM Calcutta has mentioned that the actual section-wise and overall percentage cut-off may be much higher than the above mentioned minimum percentage depending on the number of candidates called for Personal Interview (PI).

After this stage, IIM Calcutta will again shortlist the candidates for personal interview and written ability test by giving weightage to various components:

CAT 2024 Score: 56

Class 10 Marks: 10

Class 12 Marks: 15

Gender Diversity Factor: 4 (for female and transgender candidates)

After the PI and WAT rounds, IIM Calcutta will calculate a composite score for final selection. The parameters and weightage for final selection for MBA program are:

CAT 2024 Score: 30

PI: 48

What: 8

Marks awarded for academic diversity at undergraduate and master’s level for non-engineering degrees and professional qualifications: 6

Work Experience: 8

IIM Calcutta said the final selection list will be based on merit in each category.
