Why is WhatsApp removing support for old Android phones?
WhatsApp is ending its support for older operating systems because the older operating system does not ensure the security of the platform. A major reason behind ending support for older OS-powered phones is that older operating systems may contain vulnerabilities that cannot be patched, making them less secure for sensitive data such as messages and media . To use the new feature on WhatsApp, you must also have a phone that runs the latest software.
