Sunita Williams looks ‘skinny’ in new NASA photo, netizens worried: ‘Evacuate as soon as possible’ mint

Date:

Netizens raised concerns over the health of NASA astronaut Sunita Williams after the US space agency posted a photo of her and another NASA astronaut Don Pettit.

Williams has been in space for nearly six months and is looking forward to returning to Earth next year. He and his colleague Butch Wilmore went into space in June aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. He was deployed to spend eight days on the space station. However, their time in space was extended when Starliner was forced to return without its crew in September after a malfunction was detected.

NASA shared a news image of Williams on December 17. In the picture, he can be seen wearing a red Santa cap and a red T-shirt.

NASA captioned the photo, “Another day, another sled ⛄️❄️NASA astronauts Don Pettit and Suni Williams talk on ham radio inside the space station’s Columbus Laboratory Module for a fun holiday season portrait Posed.”

The photo alarmed netizens who are worried about William’s health after a long stay in space. “They look very thin and are living in an overcrowded cell,” said one ex-user.

Another commented, “Sunny Williams is not feeling well, she needs to come home now.” Another user commented, “Hey looks like they are in pretty bad shape and need to be taken out asap.”

Another comment read, “They are getting so thin! Praying for their safety!”

Many others questioned how Sunita Williams got the Santa/Christmas hats. One comment read, “How come they have Santa hats if they launched in June for the estimated 8 days if you can send them supplies send them home instead 😭.”

Starliner astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will return aboard the SpaceX Crew 9 Dragon spacecraft in early 2025. He was initially scheduled to return in February. However, NASA on Tuesday announced further delays in the return home of Indian-origin Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore. According to NASA, the pair will not return until late March or April because of delays in launching their replacements.
