Recently, in a video shared on Urvandita’s Instagram page, you must have seen her doing leg press and deadlift! This will totally inspire you to make time for a workout today and maybe try lifting weights:
‘Age is just a number, staying young is a choice’
In the clip, Roshni said, “I thought ‘Who goes to the gym at this age?’ Two years ago I had arthritis in my knees and my back was injured. But my son believed in me and said, ‘You can’t do it.’ Come with me to the gym.’ At 70, this is me: Deadlifting 70 kilos every week, leg pressing 120 kilos three times a week, and showing up every day! Age is just a number but staying young is a choice.”
The caption reads, “Meet Mrs. Roshni Devi – At 70, I am lifting weights, doing 120 kg leg presses, and doing cardio daily, a scenario I had never imagined. Just two years ago, knee arthritis and a back injury made basic tasks painful. Doctors ruled out my recovery, but my son refused to do so. He insisted, ‘This won’t do, you go to the gym.’ With hesitation and embarrassment, I started thinking, ‘Yeh umar mein gym (Is this the age to go to the gym)?’ But step by step I became stronger. Today, I take leisurely walks, cook for my family, go to the temple and eagerly wait for my workouts. The gym not only fixed my body but it gave me my life back.”
