Gurfateh Pirzada feels that OTT has made its way into the hearts of the audience and an outsider will have to work hard to get that break.
Actor Gurfateh Pirzada, who has been a part of films like Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele and Guilty, has gained a huge fan base on OTT. The actor, who is currently shooting for the series Dynasty and will later join the cast of Class 2, says that as an outsider growth is very slow for actors and the digital space has given him more love.
“It takes time for you to prove your worth there, especially if you are an outsider. “Plus with so much content and social media playing such a big role, attention spans are much shorter and it takes longer for an audience to feel a certain way about someone,” he says.
The 29-year-old actor, who was last seen in Call Me Bay, says, “I think it is very difficult for men and if you are an outsider. But time has been kind, OTT has been kind. I hope to do films also but I don’t think there is any difference now. Movies and OTT shows have become very similar. There will soon come a time when we will not be able to tell what is bigger. This is the way it is in the West and this is exactly how it should be.”
Talking about the benefits of being someone from within the film industry, he says, “If you come from the industry, people have a certain memory and people look at you in a certain way even before the first project comes to you. Prepare in the same way. Outside. I think it is very easy to get recognized but at the end of the day your work will prove something.”
However, he says that in today’s times, “good work will come to you only if you are really good.”
Talking about his role in Dynasty, he says, “It is a political drama, it is fictional. This is my first period piece and it is based on how Indian politics shaped India after the independence movement. I am playing the role of the youngest MP in the opposition.
