Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and acting Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that during a meeting of Mahayuti leaders, it was decided that the new chief minister will be from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the remaining two parties – Shiv Sena and NCP- Will get the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
The meeting of Mahayuti leaders was held in Delhi.
Ajit Pawar said, “During the meeting (Delhi meeting of Mahayuti leaders), it was decided that Mahayuti will form the government with the BJP CM and the other two parties will have deputy chief ministers… This is not the first time that this has happened.” Delay…if you remember, it took one month to form the government in 1999.
This comes after reports on Friday said that Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was “angry” and had gone to his native village amid the delay in government formation.
Earlier, on Thursday night, Eknath Shinde along with Devendra Fadnavis, NCP chief Ajit Pawar and other Mahayuti leaders met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda in the national capital.
BJP Maharashtra president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Saturday announced that the swearing-in ceremony of the Mahayuti government will be held on December 5.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 5 at around 5 pm at Azad Maidan, Mumbai.
He said that this program will be organized in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Maharashtra Assembly election results were declared on 23 November, with the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance returning to power with an overwhelming majority. However, the ruling alliance is yet to decide its chief ministerial face.
The BJP emerged as the largest party in the 280-member Maharashtra Assembly with 132 seats, while its allies – Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP – won 57 and 41 seats respectively.
