IIT Kanpur launches ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 to create platform for collaboration and innovation

The ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 was launched on November 28, 2024 with an aim to showcase the startup ecosystem of India and ASEAN countries.

Organized by the Startup Incubation and Innovation Center (SIIC), IIT Kanpur, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), brings a three-day start-up festival. Bringing together 100 startups, industry leaders, policy makers and innovators.

“At IIT Kanpur, we are honored to host this platform that unites visionary minds from across the borders, igniting the entrepreneurial spirit that drives sustainable growth and technological innovation. The ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 symbolizes the transformative power of collaboration in building a brighter, more inclusive future,” said Professor Manindra Agarwal, Director, IIT Kanpur.

IIT Kanpur said that the opening day of the Start-up Festival featured panel discussions on the role of cultural intelligence in market expansion and emerging trends and technologies in cyber security.

“The Festival exemplifies ASEAN and India’s shared vision for a future defined by inclusivity and sustainability,” said HE Satwinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN. “It highlights our growing ability to address regional challenges through innovation, proving that we no longer need to depend on the West, but rather we can cooperate,” said HE Satwinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN. And inspired by regional power, they can create their own path.

“The ASEAN-India Start-up Festival is not just an event. It is a confluence of brilliant minds, groundbreaking ideas and borderless collaboration. As the event continues for the next two days, the ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 promises to open up new opportunities, inspire entrepreneurial excellence and pave the way for shared development and technological progress, the press release stated .
