An official release said that as part of his commitment to enhance connectivity, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for several projects at Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, including expansion of the airport’s runway, a new terminal building and other associated Are. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone of a new civil enclave at Agra airport, worth more 570 crore, as well as projects at Darbhanga airport costing approx. 910 crores and the cost of Bagdogra airport is approx. 1,550 crores.
Prime Minister will inaugurate new terminal buildings at Rewa Airport, Maa Mahamaya Airport, Ambikapur Airport and Sarsawa Airport, which cost more 220 crores.

“The combined passenger handling capacity of these airports will increase to more than 23 million passengers annually,” the release said.
The airports’ designs will reflect elements inspired by the heritage structures of the area. In line with his vision of high-quality sports infrastructure, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Phase 2 and 3 of the redevelopment of the Varanasi Sports Complex, which is worth more than Rs. 210 crore and funded under Khelo India Scheme and Smart City Mission.
The redevelopment aims to create a state-of-the-art sports complex that includes a national center of excellence, players’ hostels, a sports science centre, practice fields for various sports, indoor shooting ranges and combat sports grounds. Additionally, he will inaugurate a 100-bed hostel for girls and boys along with a public pavilion at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium in Lalpur.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate tourism development works in areas related to Buddhism in Sarnath. These enhancements include construction of pedestrian-friendly streets, new sewer lines and upgraded drainage systems, and organized vending zones with modern designer vending carts to promote local handicraft vendors.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate several other initiatives such as tourism development works at Banasur Temple and Gurudham Temple and beautification and redevelopment of parks.

Speaking on the PM’s visit here, Varanasi Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an event in Varanasi on October 20.
