According to Dr. Bipin Chandra Bhamre, being kind can be beneficial for your heart in this way –

low blood pressure

Do you know? When you are kind to others, your body releases oxytocin which is the love hormone. Oxytocin dilates blood vessels and helps reduce blood pressure. This in turn may help protect your heart from damage and reduce the chances of heart attack and stroke. Therefore, being kind will strengthen the heart.

Makes you feel happy and keeps the heart healthy

Being kind to others helps a person remain content instead of stressed, anxious or depressed. Kindness is also a form of self-care. It is a well-known fact that stress can affect heart health. Increased levels of stress can increase one’s blood pressure and lead to a heart attack. Therefore, it is better to be kind and sympathetic towards others. In fact, kindness will heal others and help you save your own heart.

Kindness is a virtue. Although it is important that we be kind and gentle to others, we should also be the same to ourselves. Being kind, compassionate, gentle, and empathetic toward others and yourself helps to have a new and positive outlook on life.(Unsplash)

Feeling part of a community or supporting others builds resilience against anxiety and depression which are known to affect your heart leading to heart attacks. If you want to ensure your cardiovascular health, be empathetic towards others and you will definitely see the difference! Your heart will definitely thank you!
