Siberian birds stay in Asan Conservation Reserve for 6 months, know its specialty

Dehradun: Uttarakhand is famous for its religious and cultural places as well as tourist centers. There are many such areas in Uttarakhand which mesmerize tourists from all over the world with their natural beauty. ‘Asan Conservation Reserve’ is also counted among those tourist places. Many migratory birds arrive in the reserve located at a distance of 8 km from Vikasnagar in the month of October. This place is important for tourism as well as eco-system.

Asan Barrage is emerging as a tourist center
Asan Barrage has emerged as a beautiful place for nature and bird lovers. A large number of tourists come from the neighbouring states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Tourists enjoy boating in the lake surrounded by beautiful hills on all sides. The Uttarakhand Tourism Department has also built the Asan Conservation Resort equipped with modern technology, the responsibility of maintaining which lies with the Garhwal Mandal Development Corporation (GMVN).

Foreign birds make their home in Asan Barrage
Regarding the Asan Conservation Reserve, Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) manager Prem Singh Kandhari told Local 18 that a large number of Siberian birds are seen in the month of October, which reside in this area till around 15 March.

They come here because of the favorable temperature for 6 months. Being the gateway to Uttarakhand, people from other states also come here for tourism. In the evening, the view of the entire area in the sun rays is worth seeing.

Uttarakhand’s first Ramsar site
Asan Conservation Reserve was included in the list of Ramsar Convention Sites on 21 July 2020. It is the 38th Ramsar site in India and the first Ramsar site in Uttarakhand.

Let us tell you that Ramsar sites are those sites which are listed in the list of wetlands of international importance, also known as the Ramsar list. These sites have been designated because they meet the criteria for identifying wetlands of international importance.

Reach Herbertpur via Dehradun-Chakrata National Highway. 8 kms from there, you can see the beautiful site of Asan Barrage on Dehradun-Paonta road.
