What is AI Overview?
The AI Overview feature shows AI-generated summaries based on queries made on Google Search. These summaries are prepared by analyzing data from various sources on the web and provide users with a quick overview of the information they have searched for. This gives the user important information even before clicking on a link.
It was launched in May 2024
Google first launched this AI feature in May, but initially it was criticized due to some mistakes and dangerous suggestions. For example, AI Overview advised some users to put glue on pizza. Apart from this, advertisements were included in some summaries. After these problems, Google temporarily stopped the AI Overview feature and improved it.
Google claims, it has received a good response
Now AI Overview has been re-launched. Google says that they have done extensive testing for this feature and it has received good response from users in the US. Especially young users in the age group of 18-24 have used this feature more.
Now it remains to be seen how this feature performs in India and other countries and how it improves the search experience of users. If it is successful, it can take Google’s AI efforts in a new direction, which will bring more innovation in search technology.
