Kota Raj. Work is going on in full swing in Kota Railway Division to increase the speed of trains on Delhi-Mumbai rail route. The railway’s target is that trains run at a speed of 160 km per hour on this route. For this, the 545 km long track between Nagda and Mathura is being upgraded. More than Rs 2665 crore will be spent on this work. This project is a part of the railway’s ‘Mission Raftar’, under which railway tracks and infrastructure are being upgraded to increase the speed of trains across the country. This work is being done in Kota Railway Division under the supervision of ‘Gati Shakti Unit’.
Senior DCM of Kota Railway Division, Rohit Malviya said that special thick wave switches are being installed on the railway tracks in Kota Railway Division to take the speed of the train to 160 km per hour. To make your journey easy and complete in less time, Kota Railway Division has started work on thick wave switches at a fast pace so that the speed of trains can be increased further.
What is a Thick Web Switch?
Rohit Malviya told that turnouts are installed in the tracks to change the direction of trains. Till now, traditional switches were used in it but now the work of installing thick web switches is going on rapidly. The main objective of installing thick web switches is to take the speed of trains to 130 km per hour, which can be increased to 160 km per hour in future. Apart from this, the speed of trains in loop line will also increase from 30 km per hour to 50 km per hour. Along with this, the use of this new technology also reduces vibration during the operation of trains.
Thick Web Switch has many more benefits along with its speed
Senior section engineer of Kota Railway Division said that thick web switch not only strengthens the safety of the track but also increases its life. With the use of this new technology, turnout related failures are almost negligible. The maintenance cost on this is less than before. The estimated speed on the track can be increased. The modern system of thick web switch is reliable as compared to normal points.
State-of-the-art technology will be used
The senior section engineer said that the railways have installed thick wave switches on 106 lines in the first quarter to increase the speed of trains. For the purpose of expanding the facilities of the railways, the engineering department is using state-of-the-art technology. So that safety can be increased along with rail operations, in this direction, new technology is being used to increase the speed in different rail sections in West Central Railway. By the end of 2024, a target has been set to install thick wave switches in the entire division so that the speed of trains can be increased and the time taken in your journey can be reduced along with the speed being gained by Indian Railways.
