DUSU joint secretary Sachin Baisla claimed that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that work will be done in this direction.
The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to create a dedicated hostel facility for students from Uttar Pradesh studying in various institutions in the national capital.
Speaking to PTI, DUSU joint secretary Sachin Baisla claimed that the chief minister has assured that work will be done in this direction.
Baisla met Adityanath on Monday and requested him to set up a 1,000-bed facility here.
The youth leader expressed concern over the challenges faced by students from Uttar Pradesh in finding suitable accommodation in Delhi.
“Many students come from economically weak backgrounds, particularly from rural areas, and struggle to afford safe and healthy accommodations in the capital city. This not only impacts their academic performance, but also puts their safety and well-being at risk,” they wrote in the memo.
He said, “Given these challenges, I urge you to consider setting up a hostel exclusively for students from Uttar Pradesh in Delhi. Such a hostel with accommodation facilities for about 1,000 students will prove to be a boon for those who are currently facing difficulty in finding affordable and safe accommodation.”
Baisla told that Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh was also present in the meeting.
