Bridgerton actress Jessica Madsen opens up about being gay during Pride Month: I love a woman

Actress Jessica Madsen, best known for her role in the web show, Bridgerton, is kicking off Pride Month in a special way. The actress posted a post on Instagram dedicated to the LGBTQ community, in which she revealed that she has fallen in love with a woman. On Saturday, Jessica shared an emotional post on Instagram. She shared several photos, including some artwork celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and a photo from a march following the Stonewall riots.

The actress also posted a simple selfie in which she is posing in close-up in front of the camera. She is wearing a colorful tie-dye T-shirt, rainbow rhinestones on her face and a bucket hat that reads: “Love Supreme”.

“Loving a woman, being open about it and being proud of it,” she captioned the photos with a rainbow emoji. She also used #pride, #pridemonth, #loveislove and #gaypride with the post.

The actress’ post received a lot of love and wishes from her Insta family, which also includes her Bridgerton family.

Actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, shared several heart emojis, while Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, shared heart and raising hand emojis.

Actress Hannah Dodd, who plays Francesca Bridgerton in the series, also sent her support, writing: “Love you” and a yellow heart emoji.

Actress Joanna Bobbin, who plays Lady Cowper, also wrote “Go baby girl! Love you.” Julia Quinn, author of the original Bridgerton book series, commented with a collection of rainbow heart emojis.

Jessica has been open about her sexuality before. In June 2023, she opened up about her identity on Instagram, sharing graphics about bisexuality. The post read, “Bisexuals are not ‘confused'” and “Bi F”. In the caption, she wrote: “By the way… Happy Pride Month.”

About her role in Bridgerton

The 32-year-old actress plays Cressida Cowper in the popular Netflix series. Last month, she spoke out about the hate people receive for her character.

“I mean, people aren’t her biggest fans,” he told People magazine about Cressida, adding that he gets “interesting comments and some interesting DMs,” saying things like, “Thank you for letting me hate you so much,” or “I love hating you so much.”

She added, “It makes me feel like I’ve done my job properly. I don’t really take those things personally. But I do feel good when people I meet appreciate the show. Yeah. It’s always lovely.”
