Before giving the keys of your car or bike to others, know these rules, if an accident happens then who will be at fault, you or the driver?

Date:

New Delhi. The entire country is angry after the minor accused of the accident with a Porsche car in Pune was granted bail. People are demanding action against the minor and his parents. The minor was driving the car in an inebriated state at a speed of 200 kmph, due to which two bike riders died after the accident. But who is at fault in this accident, the minor or his father who gave him the keys to the car?

If someone hits someone with your car or bike and if that person dies, then who will be considered guilty and who will be punished? If you also give the keys of your car or bike to someone else to drive, then you must know the answer to this question. Many parents give the keys of their car to their minor children to drive without thinking. If you also do something similar, then know who will be considered guilty at the time of an accident.

What is the punishment for giving a vehicle to a minor?
It is a legal offense to give a vehicle to a minor to drive. According to the Motor Vehicle Act, the minimum age of the person driving a car, bike or any vehicle should be 18 years. If your children are minors and you give them the keys of a bike or car to drive, it will be considered a crime. If someone dies in an accident with that vehicle, then in this case the parents will also be considered accused along with the minor. According to the Motor Vehicle Act, in this case the parents can be punished with up to three years of imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 25,000. Apart from this, the registration of the vehicle can also be canceled for up to 12 months.

What does the law say?
It is clearly written in Section 005 and 195 of the Motor Vehicle Act that if you give the keys of the vehicle to a minor and a road accident occurs, then in this case the parents are as guilty as the minor. Therefore, next time before giving the keys of your vehicle to anyone, you should know whether the person to whom you are giving the keys is an adult or a minor.

If the person is an adult, then he should have a valid driving license. If you give the car keys to a person who is an adult and if something like this happens, then in this case the driver will be held responsible.
