Dr. Pragati secured AIR 355 in the UPSC 2023 exam while working in a hospital.
Clearing the UPSC exam is considered one of the toughest tasks in the country. Every year lakhs of candidates appear for the exam, but only a few thousand manage to qualify. Success stories in the exam are not limited to aspirants from academic institutions. Working women like Dr. Pragati Verma have also performed well in the UPSC exams.
According to the report, Dr. Pragati has secured 355th rank in UPSC 2023 exam while working in the hospital. She is a resident of Meham, subdivision of Rohtak in Haryana. She completed her schooling from Meham. For MBBS, she studied from PGIMS (Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences) Rohtak and did MD in Radiodiagnosis from PGIMER (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) Chandigarh.
After this, she worked as a senior resident at AIIMS Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh for a year. After some time, she joined as a consultant in radiology in corporate and private hospitals in Kurukshetra. During her job, she also prepared for the civil services examination.
Her journey to success was full of complications. In May 2021, she began her studies and appeared for the 2021 preliminary exam with a few months of preparation. According to reports, she missed the exam by just 10 marks and failed to clear it. This small setback strengthened her confidence in herself and she knew that she would clear it after better preparation.
So, the next year, she qualified for prelims, mains and interview, and secured 740th rank in the exam. She was given DANICS cadre after clearing the exam. Dr Pragati then decided to take the exam for the third time in 2023.
She secured second rank in the state in the Haryana Civil Services exam. She joined the Haryana Civil Services last year and is posted as OSD to the Commissioner of Ambala Division.
