The weather report on Tuesday said that rain will gradually intensify in some parts of Tamil Nadu over the next two days. The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert predicting heavy rain in Salem, Krishnagiti, Vellore and Tirupattur in Tamil Nadu.
IMD has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on May 8 and 9. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in the southern state in the next 5 days. Tamil Nadu is likely to experience hot and humid weather on May 7 and 8.

“Scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Karnataka during the next days,” the IMD forecast said. Heat wave outbreak in Tamil Nadu
However, parts of the southern state will see a heatwave on Tuesday, May 7. “Heatwave conditions are possible over Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka and parts of western Rajasthan,” Skymet Weather said. While forecasting the weather for May 7 and May 8, the IMD said that due to humid air and high temperatures, hot and uncomfortable weather is likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and rest of Karaikal region.
For the next five days, till May 11, temperatures in Tamil Nadu are likely to remain at 41-43 degrees Celsius in some parts of the plains of northern interior districts, 49-40 degrees Celsius in the remaining Tamil Nadu plains. IMD said 36-38 degrees Celsius over Tamil Nadu and coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
