According to the new guidelines, Foundation and Inter examinations will be held three times a year. Till now, ICAI used to conduct CA Inter and Foundation exams twice a year.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on March 7 announced a significant change in the pattern of CA Foundation and Intermediate examinations. According to the new guidelines, Foundation and Inter examinations will be held three times a year. Till now, ICAI used to conduct CA Inter and Foundation exams twice a year.
Dheeraj Khandelwal, a Central Council Member (CCM) of ICAI, announced the major change in the pattern on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. “Welcome step by ICAI to bring beneficial changes in favor of CA student community by introducing CA examinations thrice a year for CA Foundation and CA Inter level. Further updates will be clarified by ICAI soon,” Khandelwal’s post reads.

ICAI Foundation Examination is the first stage or entry level examination in India to become a Chartered Accountant (CA). Candidates who have passed the 12th class examination can appear for the CA Foundation examination. Moreover, CA is the second stage after Intermediate Foundation Examination. CA Intermediate stage is divided into two groups of four subjects each. After completing the Foundation a student is eligible to register for the CA Intermediate course. Moreover, CA Final is the last stage to become a CA.
On the other hand, ICAI has released ICAI CA Mock Test Series 1 for intermediate and final students who are going to appear for ICAI CA May 2024 exam. To access the ICAI CA May 2024 mock test, candidates need to log in using their registration number and password. ICAI CA Mock Test Series 1 will be administered in both physical and virtual formats. Candidates who want to appear for physical mode test should contact the respective branches of their area. The official notice contains a list of regional branch offices of ICAI.
As per the timetable, ICAI CA Intermediate Exam 2024 is scheduled on May 3, 5 and 7 for Group 1 while on May 9, 11 and 13 for Group 2. Meanwhile, CA Final Group 1 and Group 2 examinations will be conducted. From 2nd to 6th May and 8th to 12th May respectively.
