600 tonnes of iPhones and Green Corridor, India became Taranar, Danger for China

Date:

New Delhi. Apple has recently sent about 600 tonnes of iPhones from India to America, the total number of which is said to be about 15 lakhs. The company sent these large shipments through chartered cargo flights to maintain their availability in the US market and avoid the impact of potential tariffs. This step was taken at a time when a heavy duty was imposed on electronics coming from China in the US.

According to a report by Reuters, a maximum tariff of up to 125% was implemented on iPhones coming from China, which was 54% earlier. In comparison, only 26% fee was being charged on products coming from India, which is currently on hold for 90 days. This was the reason that Apple intensified the supply from India instead of China. It is estimated that if imports from China continued, the iPhone 16 Pro Max of $ 1,599 could have been expensive by $ 2,300 in America.

“Green Corridor” became “Green Corridor” at Channai Airport
Apple requested the Government of India and Airport officials to reduce the time of custom clearance at Chennai Airport from 30 hours to 6 hours. A “Green Corridor” system was implemented for this, as Apple has been doing in China. According to the report, about 6 cargo flights have left India since March, each of which had 100 tonnes of capacity. One of these flights was sent this week when a new tariff came into force in America.

5100 crores left
Apple sent about 1.5 million iPhones (each price of about $ 1,599) from India, whose total value is approximately $ 2.4 billion (about ₹ 20,000 crore). If these iphones were sent from China, then they would be charged 125% tariffs in the US, which would have to pay 125 billion (₹ 25,000 crore) tax to Apple. But due to being sent from India, the company did not have to pay this tax as it currently has a 0% tariff on imports from India (due to 90 -day discount), while in normal condition it would have been 26%.

In this way Apple saved an average of $ 400 tax on every iPhone, and in total, saved about $ 615 million, or about ₹ 5,100 crore. The company built a “green corridor” at Chennai Airport for this fast shipment, which reduced the time of custom clearance from 30 hours to 6 hours. This full step is part of Apple’s plan to strengthen tax strategy and India as a manufacturing hub.

Sunday also shifted to Foxconn Factory
Apple made all efforts to increase production in his Indian manufacturing hub by 20%. Production was also started on Sunday at the largest factory of FoxConn in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, which is usually a holiday. This plant has built about 2 crore units including iPhone 15 and 16 last year.

India becomes a new manufacturing center
India is now becoming an important manufacturing base for Apple. Its major suppliers Foxconn and Tata are working with three factories, and two are under construction. According to government sources, the Modi government had also asked the airport and custom officials to get active cooperation to give the company “fast track” support.
