Initially, 38 students aged between 8 and 11 years were admitted to a civil hospital in Kalwa town after they complained of dizziness, nausea, headache and stomach pain after lunch on Tuesday.
Police have registered an FIR against the management of a private school after 45 children fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after eating midday meal at a private school near Maharashtra’s Thane city, officials said on Wednesday.
Initially, 38 students aged between 8 and 11 years were admitted to a civil hospital in Kalwa town after they complained of dizziness, nausea, headache and stomach pain after lunch on Tuesday.
Officials said seven more children were admitted to the hospital late night, bringing the total number of minors admitted to the medical facility to 45.
According to an official, following a complaint by a child’s parents, the Kalwa police booked the school management and the food supplier under section 125 of the Indian Justice Code (endangering personal safety or life of others through rashness or negligence). And filed an FIR under FDA rules. Said.
Police said no arrests have been made yet and investigation into the case is ongoing.
Medical in-charge of the hospital, Dr. Anirudh Malgaonkar told PTI that the children are being monitored.
Thirty-seven of them were in good health and after a 24-hour admission protocol, they would be discharged at 5 pm, a Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) official said.
The remaining eight children showed symptoms of fever and vomiting. He said, he will have to be kept under observation for the next 12 hours.
TMC additional commissioner Sandeep Malvi on Tuesday confirmed that the children had eaten mid-day meal at the private school.
Another medical officer had said that students were served rice and moth curry as food.

According to officials, initially five students complained of uneasiness and gradually their number increased.
“An ambulance was called by the school administration and the students were taken to the hospital,” he said.
The parents of the children were also present in the hospital.
