Moradabad Basic Education Officer Vimlesh Kumar said that admission for underprivileged children will be through lottery system. Parents are encouraged to apply immediately to ensure their child’s admission
Children from low-income families in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh will now get the opportunity to study in recognized unaided modern schools. 25 seats have been reserved for admission to students from low-income families in Class 1. Director General of School Education Kanchan Verma has issued instructions to all the District Magistrates regarding this initiative.
The process of admission of children will start from December 1. Admissions will be held in a total of four phases and will be completed by March 27. Last year the admission process started from January 20 and ended on February 18. Children were admitted till July 7. This year there has been a change in the timetable for admission of children from low income families.
To get their children admitted in modern schools, parents will have to apply online. According to the new timetable, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) will have to complete the admission process as per the allotment list of unaided recognized private schools by March 31, 2025.
Children will start going to school from April 1, 2025. According to the instructions, BSA will release the school allotment list for admission in the academic session 2025-26 on time. Verification of applications related to admission will also be done.
To ensure that 100% of children who apply are enrolled, block-wise nodal officers will be appointed. Help desks will also be set up in the District Magistrate, Chief Medical Officer, Block, Basic Education Officer and Block Education Officer offices to assist parents who are unable to apply online for their children.
Help desks will also be set up in district hospitals and community health centers to take maximum advantage of the scheme and facilitate admission of children from low-income families to modern schools.
District Program Officer and Child Development Project Officer of the Child Development and Nutrition Department have also been instructed to promote the admission of poor class children in Anganwadi area and assist their parents in the admission process.
Documents required for admission
The documents that are mandatory for the admission process include certificate of annual income showing that the parents earn less than Rs 1 lakh, residence certificate, caste certificate for people from reserved categories, if the child is disabled. Disability certificate, and birth certificate of the child. Admission will be granted only after submission of these documents.
In the first phase, applications will be accepted from December 1 to December 29, with the lottery taking place on December 24. In the second phase, applications will be accepted from January 1 to January 19, with the lottery taking place on January 24. In the third phase, applications will be accepted from February 1 to February 19 and the lottery date will be February 24. In the fourth phase, applications will be accepted from March 1 to March 19, the lottery will be held on March 24. ,
Last year, children were admitted in 624 private schools, in which 5,126 children from low income group were admitted. This time, children will be admitted to 1,111 private schools, with each school enrolling 25 per cent of the students. Admission will be given only in the school of the ward where the child resides. There will be no fees for admission or studies.
BSA Vimlesh Kumar said that admission of children from weaker sections will be done through lottery system. Parents are requested to apply on time to ensure admission of their child. The department will continue to release the school allotment list as per the timetable.
