10 year old boy dies after falling from swing in school in Jajpur, Odisha

A 10-year-old boy was playing on a swing with some of his friends at school when he suddenly fell and got seriously injured.

A Class IV student died after falling from a swing on the school premises in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday, police said.

Soumyaranjan’s family and local people have blamed the negligence of teachers for his death. (ht file)

The deceased boy was identified as Soumya Ranjan Sahu of Bagapitiya Higher Primary School, Danagarhi Block.

A 10-year-old boy was playing on a swing with some of his friends at school when he suddenly fell and got seriously injured. Police said he was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Soumyaranjan’s family and local people have blamed the negligence of teachers for his death. After the incident, they allegedly detained the teachers and demanded strict action against them, police said.

Official sources said Bagapitiya Upper Primary School has 72 students and five teachers including the headmaster.

Subhranshu Puhan, Block Education Officer, Dangdi, said, “This is an unfortunate incident. We cannot compensate for this irreparable loss. However, we will definitely take necessary action to all the schools in the block to avoid such accidents during school hours.” Would advise caution.”
