New Delhi. With the increase in tension on the border between India and Pakistan, wrong information is spreading rapidly on social media. In a viral message, it is being claimed that drone attacks can be avoided by closing the location of the phone. And it is also being claimed that this message has been released already by the Government of India.

Amid the increasing drone hazards near the India-Pakistan border, many misleading messages are coming from many sources. Recently another misleading message has gone viral on platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook and X (first Twitter). In this message, it has been falsely claimed that the Government of India has advised citizens to close GPS or location settings on their smartphone to avoid enemy drones.

PIB has confirmed- Message is ‘Fake’
The fact check unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has completely rejected this viral message. In a post shared on X, PIB has cleared that the Indian government has not issued any advice to stop the smartphone location to avoid drone attacks.

The fact-checking team has described this message as “completely fake and misleading”. He warned people not to believe such unproven claims and avoid sharing them further, because it can cause unnecessary panic and confusion.

Propaganda to spread confusion among Indian citizens
PIB has also said that this wrong information can be spread to create fear among citizens in deliberately sensitive time. He requested everyone to trust only government official channels for updates related to security.

Officials reiterated that India’s air defense system is fully capable of combating air threats and the public does not need to pay attention to such unconfirmed information.
