Prime Minister Modi said in his speech, “I feel proud to be the first Indian Prime Minister to talk to you in this prestigious Red House. This historic red building has seen the struggle and sacrifice of the people of Trinidad and Tobago for freedom and respect.”
He said that democracy is not just a political system in India, this is a way for us to live life. We have a great heritage of thousands of years. There are some members in your Parliament, whose ancestors came from the state of Bihar in India.
He said, “This morning President Christine Kangalu honored me with the ‘Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’, the highest national award of the country. I politely accept it for 1.4 billion Indians.”
The Prime Minister said that India sees its development as responsibility towards others. With this spirit, we are strengthening our relationship with Trinidad and Tobago. Our business will continue to grow. We will encourage businesses to invest more in this country. Our development partnership will expand.
