Meta has launched a new security feature on WhatsApp and Facebook. Now users will get warning before being scammed during video call or messaging. This feature will help in protecting against screen sharing and suspicious messages.
Online scams on WhatsApp and Facebook are now slowly coming under control. Meta has said that such updates are coming on the platform, which will alert users about possible fraud in video calling or messaging. In the past, many people have seen that fraudsters were successful in stealing their banking or personal data by trapping them for hours during video calls.

Now Meta’s new security feature will show a warning to WhatsApp users before sharing the screen. If you’re about to share your screen with someone you don’t know, a pop-up message will appear saying, ‘Share your screen only with people you trust.’

They can see all the information displayed on your screen, including banking information. Screen sharing is end-to-end encrypted and is not recorded by WhatsApp.

This feature is especially important for those users who have ever shared sensitive information after falling prey to a fraudster. Now the user will get time to decide and the platform will try to save them by giving a warning.

Such scam alert will also be available on Facebook Messenger. If a stranger sends you a message, Messenger will first alert you that the message may be suspicious.

After this, this review will be done with the help of AI and the user will be told how scammers can use such messages to steal data or commit fraud.

Apart from this, UPI apps in India have also included the feature of warning before sending money. Meta recently disabled the payment request feature in WhatsApp so that scamsters are not able to steal money.

These new security updates will help users smartly protect themselves from online scams and make them safer while on video calls or messaging.
