Jitendra’s ‘Caravan’ sold more tickets than Sholay. The pairing with Asha Parekh was a hit. Director Nasir Hussain, music by RD Burman, the film was a hit in China also.
Jitendra, who is known as Jumping Jack in the industry. He worked in more than 200 films and gave many blockbusters. In the year 1971, he had brought such a film whose record even Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s Sholay could not break. The biggest success of this film was its blockbuster songs which people have not been able to forget till date.
More tickets were sold than Sholay
The film ‘Caravan’ had also left Sholay behind in terms of tickets. According to media reports, at that time tickets worth 25 crores of Salim-Javed’s Sholay were sold. Whereas around 30 crore tickets of ‘Caravan’ were sold.
‘Caravan’ was a musical hit film. In which there were blockbuster tracks like ‘Chhadti Jawani Meri Chaal Mastani’, ‘Daiya Yeh Main Kahan Aa Phasee’, ‘Dilbar Dil Se Pyare’, ‘Kitna Pyaara Vaada Hai’ and ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’. Helen’s song Piya Ab To Aaja Toh was such a big hit that it proved important for the film as well.

This was also a success of ‘Caravan’. It was released in China in 1979, 8 years after the film’s release. According to reports, this film was successful in performing well there. It is claimed that more than 30 crore tickets of Lifetime Caravan have been sold in China, India and other countries together.
