Do you often start a diet with the aim of staying healthy and fit, but fail to follow it? You are not alone. Often, people struggle to maintain a diet, and mostly, as fitness coach Siddharth Singh says, it’s because they don’t prioritize consistency in their nutrition plans.

In an Instagram video shared on October 29, the fitness coach, who has also trained actor Tamannaah Bhatia, shared the main reasons why people find it difficult to stick to their diet.

‘The only time you can’t stick to a diet is when…’

The video starts with Siddharth narrating an anecdote about a client who struggles to consistently follow a diet. When asked why he couldn’t stick to the plan, it was revealed that it simply involved various juices, including orange juice in the morning, bottle gourd juice in the afternoon and bitter gourd juice in the evening.

The fitness coach confessed that he was mesmerized after listening to his client’s diet plan. “I said, ‘That’s it. That was your diet?’, and I said, ‘No wonder you couldn’t stick to it. That’s not even food. It’s literally liquid.’

So, why did his diet fail? According to fitness coaches, diets fail when they are unrealistic, not sustainable, or overly restrictive, such as crash diets that eliminate entire food groups indefinitely.

He stressed, “The only time you can’t stick to a diet is when it’s not sustainable, when it’s a crash diet. Something like, ‘let’s give up carbs’ or ‘let’s not have sugar for the rest of my life’…if it sounds like something that’s not worth doing to say 10 people, it’s probably something you won’t be able to do.”

‘There’s nothing wrong with you…’

Additionally, the fitness coach emphasized that nutrition should be something you can look at and say to yourself, “Hey, I can do this for the rest of my life.” Additionally, if you have established a solid nutrition plan, you are in a good place.

He adds, “But if it’s something like bottle gourd juice, bitter gourd juice and orange juice, and then nothing else, it will probably make you unhappy, not force you to stick to it.”

Siddharth emphasized that this will further lead to a toxic cycle where you will question yourself. “You’re going to be like, ‘Well, I can’t stick to a diet. There’s something wrong with me. Maybe it’s my metabolism.’ No, there is nothing wrong with you. So, find a nutrition plan that is structured, sustainable and you will get amazing results in a reasonable amount of time,” he said.
