Syria Bashar al Assad: Due to its own drumbeat and its own tune, Syria has become a football among many countries and parties of its own country. On one hand, its future remains clear and uncertain. On the other hand, there is no guarantee of peace at the moment because old players are leaving the country and new players are coming with their own agenda and everyone’s aim is to capture Syria.
On December 8, HTS overthrew Assad’s government and declared control of the entire country, but the declaration of control of the entire country is only in the air. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) already present there have refused to accept defeat and are continuously fighting to maintain their control over northern Syria. On the other hand, Russia, America and Israel also did not play their cards completely due to which Syria has become a football between these countries and their own people.
From America to Israel… everyone’s eyes on Syria
Regarding Syria, America has said that American forces will continue their work in Syria and will control the oil field areas. On the other hand, the Israeli Air Force has also destroyed most of the remaining ammunition depots and aircraft of Assad forces as a precautionary measure with the largest air strike since the Arab-Israeli war. Along with this, the Israeli army has been continuously encircling Syria and has not yet faced resistance from any group. Russia has emerged in a new form. Russian forces have withdrawn from areas and bases they once controlled and the rebels have posed no obstacles to their return with their war equipment.
The biggest problem in this is that of Israel regarding foreign countries, regarding which HTS, the claimant of alleged occupation of Syria, has not issued any statement. Apart from these countries, HTS’s biggest problem is with the SDF which has refused to accept its control. Who are the SDF?
The Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, is said to be a coalition composed largely of the Kurdish YPG, the PKK, and a number of local and external tribesmen, and is said to have been created by the US to fight against ISIS and Assad forces, as well as Turkey-backed rebels. It was created and the entire funding behind it is also done by America only. There are said to be about 1 lakh trained fighters in this organization.
Every party has its own agenda in Syria too
The SDF has captured an Arab area in eastern Syria called Der ez Zor. It is said that America had secretly supported it to capture it because it wants to fight the terrorist organization ISIS through this area. Apart from this, in other areas like Manbij, Raqqa and Kobane, fighting is going on continuously between Turkish supported rebels and SDF. Both sides are also using heavy weapons against each other.
That is, overall, after the fall of Assad, a new power struggle has broken out between many parties in Syria because all want their control over the country and the outside countries have completely left Syria to its fate in this matter. This is the reason why there is no visible impact of peace in Syria in the coming days.
