Shashi Tharoor hits back at ‘paid review’ claims

Tharoor took to

After Tharoor posted a very positive review of the Netflix series, which also marked Aryan’s debut film as a director, a social media user took a dig at him, commenting, “Shashi Tharoor’s new side business – paid review.” However, the senior politician was in no mood to ignore the comment and gave a sharp reply to the troll.

On Monday, Tharoor took to Twitter to hit back at the allegation. In his reply, Tharoor wrote, “I am not for sale, my friend. No one has ever paid me, in cash or kind, for any opinion I have expressed.”

Earlier on Sunday, Tharoor had acknowledged Aryan Khan’s departure from the show, calling it “absolute OTT gold”.

Tharoor wrote, “I have been battling cold and cough and have been canceling shows for two days. My staff and my sister Smitatharoor convinced me to take some time off the computer and shift my focus to @NetflixIndia series and that’s one of the best things that happened to me: absolute #OTT GOLD.”

He added, “Just watched Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, “The Ba**ads of Bollywood” and I’m craving words of praise. It takes time to grow on you, but then you get used to it! The writing is sharp, the direction fearless, and the sheer audacity of this satire is exactly what Bollywood needed. A brilliant, often hilarious, sometimes moving, and Always the one who sees beyond the glamour, the one who sends. Every cinematic cliché, with a razor-sharp wit – and a series of inside jokes that let the audience into the acting and behind the scenes.”

Concluding his post, Tharoor shared, “Seven compelling episodes mark the arrival of a true storytelling force. Take a bow, Aryan Khan – you have delivered a masterpiece: “TheBa**dsOfBollywood” is brilliant! @iamsrk: From one father to another, I must say: you should be very proud.”
